A Bowl of Soup and a Lesson About Love
A rainy afternoon, a bowl of borscht, and one simple lesson about love: connection gets easier when you learn how the people you love receive and express it.

Today was one of those days that starts out completely ordinary and somehow leaves you thinking about much bigger things.
I went out for a walk, and like something out of a romantic movie cliché... it started raining. -_-'
I took shelter at a Russian friend's restaurant — one of those places that somehow smells like home and nostalgia — and ordered a hot bowl of borscht while I waited out the storm.
I had brought a book with me that one of my mentors had recommended some time ago: The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman.
And there, with the sound of rain in the background and the smell of beets and dill in the air, I started reading something that, simple as it sounds, made a lot of sense:
"We don't all love in the same way."
Chapman explains that there are five main ways people express and receive love:
Words of affirmation — hearing an "I admire you," "thank you," "you're good for me."
Quality time — sharing moments without distractions, truly present.
Meaningful gifts — small details that say "I thought of you."
Acts of service — helping, taking care of things out of love.
Physical touch — hugs, affection, closeness.
As I read, I thought about how often we get frustrated because we feel like we're giving everything, but the other person doesn't notice.
And maybe they do notice — they just don't understand it in their language.
💡 What I understood (as a man, and as someone who watches relationships every day)
I've seen couples fall apart not from lack of love, but from lack of understanding.
She complains that he "doesn't listen to her," while he thinks: "How can she say I don't care? I work all day for us."
He feels like she doesn't want him anymore, while she thinks: "I tell him I love him all the time."
Both are talking about love... but in different languages.
And I realized something: love isn't only about feeling — it's about translating.
About learning to communicate in the other person's language, even when it isn't your own.
❤️ A small reflection for you
Today, between spoonfuls of borscht and underlined pages, I understood that we should all learn our own love language... and the one spoken by the people we love.
Because when you do, relationships stop being a fight and become a collaboration.
You stop asking for what the other person doesn't know how to give, and start seeing and valuing what they actually do give.
And I'm not just talking about a partner: it applies to friends, family, even yourself.
🌟 If I could sum up this afternoon in one sentence...
"Love isn't about luck. It's about language."
When you learn to speak it — and to listen for it — everything changes. And if you feel like you and the people you love keep missing each other, that's exactly what we can work on together. Book your free session at The Amado Effect.
